I am now signed up for more races in the next two months than I did all of last year. Of course… I only did ONE race last year. I have the entry form for the St. Paddy’s Day 5K ready to go, I am going to do the club’s practice duathlon then I have another duathlon and my first triathlon. I am purposefully not planning anything after the triathlon (ok… except nationals) because I want to evaluate the sport after I finish the race. It might be that I just go back to running. Or, perhaps look at bike racing or, heaven forbid, swimming! But I really won’t even know what I need to work on until after the first triathlon is over, so I’ll wait. Most triathlons around here don’t have upper limits and rarely fill up. I know I need open water swims, which won’t be hard to find and, if possible, I would like to do a little bit longer distance than nationals, just to give me a bit more confidence, but that won’t be until July or August. Until then, who knows.
I finally got some gear to get my bike set up. I got a decent set of aerobars, some new pedals and some shoes. Oh… and some road tires. Now I just have to find time to put it all on and get it all fitted to me. The only thing I think I will need is a new (reverse offset) seat post (and maybe a new set of handlebars, unfortunately). But for now I wanted to get the pedals mounted and get comfortable in my new shoes by riding on the trainer until the weather gets better.
