Indoor workout

Finally got a hotel with a decent gym so I was able to ride a bike (albeit a recumbent) as well as run a couple of miles on a treadmill this morning.  I didn’t really pound the bike because I am not in bike shape yet so I just cruised and tried to keep my cadence up for a half hour and then jumped on the treadmill and ran a couple of fast miles.  The first one was 7:45 but the second one was a 6:58!  Not bad after a half hour on the bike.

Now that I am up around 2000 yards in the pool I feel like I can confidently move on to the bike and start to focus more on it.  I will probably continue to swim 3 times per week until the end of March and will then switch to two days a week so that I can spend more time on the bike.  I think I also need to start doing more brick work and simulate transitions as well.

The club is going to have a multisport event for members only that will simulate duathlon conditions so I am going to try that in a couple of weeks.  I think the newbie group is also going to do something similar so I should have plenty of chances to practice transitions.
