Something to sink (..err… THINK) about…

I keep wondering if that day that I swam 300 yards without stopping was an accident.  I just can’t seem to get back up there again.  Today it felt like my legs were made of anchors.  The pool is only 4 feet deep and at least once I felt my feet hit the bottom.  I know this means I’m lifting my head when I swim so I really worked on that for the rest of the session.

I really want to relax in the water but I’m still tense.  I don’t panic as much as I used to, but I still hold my breath too much if everything doesn’t feel right.  I’m also forcing myself to breathe on both sides.  I do at least 2 laps of 1,3,5 drills and then grab a kickboard and do breathing practice to my left.  I’m not sure why it’s harder to breathe that way, but I really feel like I want to lift my head.  I might not be rotating enough.  It’s still all so new…

I guess the only thing I still don’t like, so far, about triathlon training is giving up my runs.  I know I’ve said it before, but I really enjoy my running  so I still find myself trying to figure out ways to continue my running habit and wiggle it in along with all the other stuff.  Not having much luck yet unless I work out 7 days a week…  hmmm…
