This is a bit deceptive because I actually rode 45 minutes on a stationary bike and decided to do a mini version of a “brick” where you do two of the three triathlon sports at the same time.  This small, bike-run brick was just to let me start to get the feel for running with tired legs.  After an hour on a bike, sometimes your legs don’t do what you want them to and it takes a bit to get your “running legs”.  For me, it took about 1/4 mi to feel like I wasn’t running in mud, but this will get better.  This is the first time I have ever done anything approaching a brick, so my body had no idea what the heck was going on.  I still managed to run that mile in 8:06 though, so it wasn’t bad.

After just running for over a year, it’s weird to look at my mileage total for the week so far and only see 2 miles.  I might run 10 tomorrow, depending on the weather, but that will still only be 12 miles for the week.  I know I should be looking at my total mileage for all three sports, but I still feel like I am not working as hard because I don’t have as many running miles.  I know I am going have to change that mindset, but it will take time to let go of those 30-50 mile weeks I was putting in.  I’m sure my legs will love me for it though…!
