Miles to go: 1529
Slow slog through a soupy morning today. Temperature at the start was 71 degrees (at 5:30am) and the humidity was through the roof.
As I type we sit on the cusp of what may be two full days of monsoonal rains as a combination of a potent cold front and the remnants of Gustav decide to park right over central Missouri. I don’t have a whole lot of faith that I will be biking to work tomorrow OR running at traknight. As I watch these two monster systems merge, all I can hear is the weather man telling me to expect another 4-6 inches of rain over the next 48 hours. Looks like it’s back to being soggy again for a few days.
Today was one of those days where I felt like I could have done more (run faster or further)… but I just didn’t WANT to. I was sweating before we even started and the trail portion of the run felt positively claustrophobic. For once I was actually GLAD to see the roads again because they allowed in a little breeze. Luckily, no one I ran with was feeling fast either, so we just cruised. By the time I got back it felt like I had run through a pool. Blech…
I think I’m going to sign up for a 5K in a couple of weeks. It’s a small one and I have really been wanting to do one again so, I have a registration form! Hope I can muster up the guts to send it in!
