Any marathoners running stairs?

Mom nature cooperated for once and it managed to rain today, my scheduled day off, instead of shortly before I run, as it has for the last 2 weeks.  Thanks mom…

I am slowly developing a love/hate relationship with days off.  On the one hand, I love and cherish my days off so that I have more time with my family and can also do things like mow the lawn before it eats the children.  On the other hand, I feel kinda guilty that I’m not running and I really WANT to.  Even though I know all about the “too much of a good thing” philosophy, it’s hard.  I actually packed my running stuff today and brought it with me to work, as usual.  When I checked my calendar to see how far I was running today and realized it was a day off, I was kinda disappointed…  But since it is pouring outside now I probably wouldn’t have run anyway.

Does anybody run stairs?  There are a couple of stadiums here in town that are open to the public that have pretty decent runs of stairs.  I just don’t know if it would be good to work that in as a cross training day or if it would even be good to do as a part of marathon training?  Or is it more of a “sprint work” kinda thing?
