Tired outside, happy inside…!

Distance: 7

Time: 67:14

Total Weekly Mileage: 31

Yay! Another record! At this rate I might break a hundred miles for the month! Those of you out there who are putting in hundred mile weeks… keep your snorts to yourself…

I’m not sure why I decided it would be a good idea to try to run 3 longer distance days in a row, but it actually worked out OK. I’m tired and starting to get a bit sore, so tomorrow will be a short day (3 miles) and then a bit of rest. I do like the fact that I was able to run all three days at a consistent pace. In fact, today’s seven miles was actually just slightly faster than the first one. Not bad when you consider the 8 miles sandwiched in between. I thought for sure today would be slower. I was definitely breathing hard at the end but still had a bit of gas left in the tank.

This next week I am going to play with intervals and speed a bit, since I have a 10K on Saturday. I think I need a break from the longer distances. Then after the 10K I start my slow and steady march toward marathon distance (gulp!).

Of course, my plan has me running my longest distances in August and September so I will probably be doing a lot of running at night or in the wee hours of the morning to avoid the oppressive heat and humidity of Missouri summers. No big deal though… Just take it easy and drink a lot (of water… that is…). I need to have run 26-28 miles at least once by October 1st, so here’s hoping!
