Hyperselfcompetitive disorder

September 12, 2007

Distance: 4.5 mi

Time: Speed work

Man!  My legs felt like crap!  I ran… fast… for me.  I averaged 1:32 quarters and a 3:06 half.  But it sure didn’t feel like it.  I kept checking my watch to see if it was working.  We are supposed to run a timed mile in a couple of weeks.  If I can get under 7 minutes I will be THRILLED!  yep… just gonna take off my shoes and leave them in the middle of the track, ’cause I’m done.  Nothing more to prove.

Unless, of course, I get under 6:30…  Then I will wonder if I can’t get under 6…  and so it goes… *sigh*  Thus is the curse of the runner.  Hyperselfcompetitive disorder…  Don’t care what I do against anybody else, but every step forward makes me wonder if I can’t go one more… faster…  I’m gonna kill me doin’ this…  But at least I’ll die happy (if not speedy…)!
