Five and a half gloriously flat, smooth, lovely miles. I get a small tear of joy in my left eye just thinking about it… *sigh*
See, unlike every other route we run, this one was all on the trail, which, by and large, is flat. Don’t get me wrong… I love hills and terrain change, etc. But after the torture that was the Tuesday run, this was a little slice of heaven. Nature even cooperated with an early morning shower to cool things down a bit.
I liken this run to children and their ability to stave off certain execution by being intolerably cute. Really. It saves their lives and I’m sure its instinctual. They act really bad or break stuff or throw fits to the point that you are ready to kill them, then they turn on the cute and paralyze you like kryptonite to Superman and all you can do is love them. Running does this too. It beats you up and frustrates you to the point you want to shoot it, then it gives you something wonderful and you just can’t let go. This run was the “cute” after Tuesday’s “terrible”. This run was so nice and so comfortable I just wanted to give it a hug. Tuesday I was ready to stop running altogether and join a bridge club.
Now if Saturday will just be as “cute” as today… that would be nice…
